mbln offers:

networking: Share experiences with other business leaders about the economic benefits of employing people with disabilities. Connect with qualified individuals seeking jobs. The MBLN Employment Fair matches businesses that have job openings with qualified persons with disabilities. Employers meet persons with disabilities to offer information about employment opportunities.

education: Assist high school students with disabilities to secure their first paid employment through the MBLN First Jobs Program. (see details below) Meet employers, government and service agencies designed to advance the involvement of persons with disabilities in the paid workforce.

awareness: A Multi-Sector Forum, coordinated by MBLN and representatives from government, disability agencies and people with disabilities, was one of the first all-inclusive forums held in Manitoba. Funded by the provincial and federal governments, the event brought together members of the business community, disability agencies and people with disabilities to discuss the hiring and retention of persons with disabilities. There are plans for further initiatives, and a second forum, based on the discussions. recognition: Recognition Awards, hosted by the MBLN for the first time in 2004, create awareness by acknowledging Manitoba employers who excel in employing and retaining people with disabilities. That includes companies that have the best hiring practices, have developed innovative solutions or “gone the extra mile” in improving employment opportunities. Awards are given to small /medium and large businesses.The President’s Award recognizes an employer who has shown innovation in breaking down the barriers to employment for people with disabilities.
